two in one

Well, I managed to miss an entry, yesterday; but it was because I actually had a social opportunity that included my husband, and two dear friends. So ... I am going to have to come up with two things for which I am grateful. The first is that it is such a beautiful day, today. With the sun shining, it is hard to be glum. I had a fantastic time with a friend, shopping on Whyte Ave, today. In her company, I felt comfortable going into a store that I'd always liked but had thought I was too old to enter. I even bought a 50's-style (with a punk twist) dress and shoes! I doubt I would have had the confidence to try it on without Katherine there. Secondly, even though I have gotten plumper over the years, I must say, I am glad that the weight distributed itself more or less evenly. As a result, I actually have cleavage! Something I never thought I would ever have! Tonight, I am going to show off both the dress and the cleavage at a High School reunion. Any one I know, there, will be quite surprised, I am sure.

Belly Dancing Bliss

Finally! I can dance again! Since my discovery of Tribal Fusion Belly Dancing, I feel happier more often. Truly, this is something I am greatful for. The women of this community are, as one of my classmates described, "Freakishly nice". They are also so very interesting ; each with their own captivating and unique stories.  Did I mention the costumes? WELL! The costumes are sumptuous, sexy, wild, and sometimes bizarre (it really depends on the dancer and the story her body weaves with the music).  Regardless of the style or attitude, I love love LOVE making these costumes. To date, I have only made three head dresses and one fringed belt; but I have plans. Oh, yes, I do! Inspired by the theme of Gods and Goddesses, I am going to make a bra, belt, headdress, hip skirt, and possibly guantlettes . The colour scheme will be, primarily, iwhite with a accents of silver, gold, and grey. Tiny hydrangea blossoms will be featured. I am so excited about this, that I think I will log off and get to work!

First blog: ARTiculate

This is my very first blog, EVER. Here, I will put the real meat of this website: the things I am thankful for. The things that keep me away from the edge of the precipice. Today (since I've just gotten my ARTiculate sketchbook back), I am thankful to be participating in a travelling sketchbook project. It has reawakened the artist in me.
